Many artists relate form and content, which includes color, shape, pattern and duration. Artists also strive to establish the relationship between form and content to show the way that something is made to fit with what the artist intend for the work to be seen as.
In the image above, the artist put some matching cubics on the petals of the flower to make the work to be seen as sparkling or shining flower, not just a beautiful flower.
The flower looks more embellished.
